Florianus succeeded his brother, Tacitus, in 276. He was declared emperor by the western army, though seems to have been given recognition by the senate. He reigned for less than three months, for as he was pursuing the Eastern challenger Probus, his own troops murdered him. Probus went on to rule until 282. KHK.
