Collection History: Uncertain
Olynthus, Macedonia. Chalcidian League.
The reverse features a kithara, four to eight strings, though this coin appears to have five. Usually, the legend would read ΧΑΛΚΙΔΕΩΝ (Of the Chalkideans) clockwise, the bottoms of the letters facing inward. From the three letters which can be seen on this coin, ΝΩΕ, tops facing inward, this legend appears to read counterclockwise which is unlike any other Olynthus coin in the references. John Nebel 2013.
