This artwork uses language and art to address the political situation that we find ourselves in today. In an era of “alternative facts,” our president exposes us daily to outright lies. The work literally spells out “LIES” in Posada font, wherein the letters are truncated into an image that suggests a ninja weapon. The work is titled Men Tiras because “tiras” is a Spanish word that translates as “throws” in English; the two words combined offer even another translation. The sound art component consists of Spanish pronunciation of the letter “r,” which is an adjective meaning “agreement,” mixed with the sounds of the universe.
