This young man’s clothing choices, including his raised collar, boldly patterned pants and pant legs tucked to expose each sneaker’s high top, project identity. For this series, Floyd Tunson photographed his high school students. This student’s smile and open stance invite an exchange of gazes with the viewer. His relaxed and easy going posture contrasts with Tunson’s energetic brushstrokes, the starkness of the black-and-white paint and the sobering title of the work.
